Johnston Realty exits AAABA tourney with defeat

JOHNSTOWN — Johnston Realty finished its run in the All-American Amateur Baseball Association Tournament at Westmont Hilltop on Wednesday, falling to the New York City Bonnie Rams, 8-5.

Johnston (0-3) trailed 5-0 going into the top of the sixth inning when it scored five runs to tie the game up. However, New York scored a run in each of the next three innings to seal the victory.

Connor Blough had two hits and scored a run for Johnston, which also got solo RBI efforts from Nick Negola and Ethan Hileman.

Michael Turiano struck out nine in getting the loss.

Home Instead took a 1-0 lead in the Altoona Teener Minor League championship series Wednesday night, thanks to a 20-7 win in five innings over Cumming Motors at Seitz Field.

A win tonight for Home Instead will give the team the title in the best-of-3 series.

Home Instead, which led 9-2 after two innings, got two hits and three RBIs from Conner Waite to go with two hits each from Adam Loucks and Nate Phillips. Winning pitcher Noah Stump also drove in two runs.

Cumming got two hits each from Nick Dunmire and Cody Clapper and two RBIs from Ethan Donlan.

Professionals Auto Body, trailing 6-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday, scored three times for a 7-6 win over M&T Bank in the Altoona Teener Major League best-of-3 Finals at Seitz Field.

Game 2 is today at 5 p.m. back at Seitz.

Brady Steiner had three hits to go with two hits from Alex Strawmier for PAB. Teammate Caden Gibbons smacked a three-run homer while Aiden Diehl added two RBIs. Parker Crownover got the start and recorded 10 strikeouts. Steiner got the win in relief.

M&T got two hits and an RBI from Andrew Berkheimer to go with two RBIs from Jesse Miller.
